Po‘ipū has emerged as Kaua‘i's top destination, thanks to its generally sunny weather and a string of golden-sand beaches dotted with oceanfront lodgings. Beaches are user-friendly, with protected waters for keiki (children) and novice snorkelers, lifeguards, clean rest rooms, covered pavilions, and a sweet coastal promenade ideal for leisurely strolls. Some experts even rank Po‘ipū Beach Park number one in the nation. That may be a bit of an overstatement, although it certainly does warrant high accolades. In summertime don't be surprised to see a monk-seal mom and her pup on the beach here; the seals seem to like this beach as much as the visitors.
