Mexico and Central America: Chile, Peru & Panama Voyage

Azamara Cruises

On the edge of two distinct and diverse worlds, the seaside city of Coquimbo and nearby La Serena lie sandwiched between Chile's fertile central valley and the arid Atacama Desert. A short drive from port is the country's second-oldest city, La Serena. This colonial city is a popular summer holiday destination for Chileans, and it's easy to see why with a tour along Avenida del Mar. Not one, not two, but twelve golden beaches stretch along the city's coast, ideal for sport fishing or soaking up the sun.

Day 1 Port of Call Southampton Departure 6:00pm

Overview

Southampton is a port city on England’s south coast. It’s home to the Sea City Museum, with an interactive model of the Titanic, which departed from Southampton in 1912. Nearby, Southampton City Art Gallery specializes in modern British art. Solent Sky Museum features vintage aircraft like the iconic Spitfire. Tudor House & Garden displays artifacts covering over 800 years of history, including a penny-farthing bike.

Day 2 Cruising
Day 3 Port of Call Hamburg Arrival 7:00am Departure 7:00pm

Overview

What are the first things that come to mind when you think of Hamburg? Probably the city's stunning location on the Elbe and Alster Rivers, the colorful activity in the St. Pauli entertainment district, unforgettable musicals, a night at the theater, Michaelis Church (colloquially "der Michel"), or the impressive harbor. Hamburg, 1,200 years old, is loved both for its contemporary scene as well as for its cultural offerings. In between traditional trading houses and renowned theaters, the latest trends are always cropping up. Hamburg lies open to many streams of influence. With city-state traditions reaching back for centuries, it has always played a special political and cultural role. Today, as a key commercial hub, an international harbor, and a media and cultural center, the metropolis on the Elbe River with its one million inhabitants is once again pursuing ancient traditions with typically Hanseatic aplomb. This comes as no surprise: Germany's second-largest city offers a high quality of life and international flair. In Hamburg, the word "boredom" is unknown.

Day 4 Cruising
Day 5 Port of Call Alesund Arrival 10:00am Departure 6:00pm

Overview

Alesund is a port town on the west coast of Norway, at the entrance to the Geirangerfjord. It’s known for the art nouveau architectural style in which most of the town was rebuilt after a fire in 1904, as documented at the Jugendstilsenteret museum. There are panoramic views of Ålesund’s architecture, the surrounding archipelago, and fjords from the Mount Aksla lookout.

Day 6 Port of Call Molde Arrival 7:00am Departure 5:00pm

Overview

Molde - the Town of Roses - is facing south on the beautiful fjord Moldefjord. From the top of the viewpoint of Varden, you can see the famous Molde Panorama. You can also see Norway's most modern football stadium - Molde Stadium (1998), Molde Harbour and - in the middle of the picture - the town centre with the Market Square, Molde Cathedral, the Town Hall and the Town Hall Square. Here you will find Storgata which translates as Main Street. This is the most important shopping area in Molde in addition to the shopping centre Roseby, which is a short walk outside the town centre. Every year in July, the Jazz Festival is arranged in Molde.Molde Cathedral was consecrated in 1957. This was the third church on the site. The two first churches were destroyed by fire. Two-thirds of the town centre was destroyed by German bombing in April 1940 under the hunt for King Haakon and Crown Prince Olav. Parts of the town are thus built in a post-war functional architecture. Molde has for more than a hundred years been known as the Town of Roses on account of its rose gardens. The Rose Maiden is located on the Town Hall Square in front oofthe Town Hall and is looking down to the Market Square and the Jazz Boy. During the 1940 bombing, the King and the Crown Prince sought shelter at Glomstua where the famous picture of the King under the Royal Birch was taken. You can visit the place which is now referred to as the Peace Grove. In the summer there are regular departures from the quay by the Market Square to the beautiful Hjertoya Island (10 minutes) where you can swim, take a sun bath, relax, rent a boat or take a look at the Fishery Museum.

Day 7 Port of Call Trondheim Arrival 7:00am Departure 5:00pm

Overview

Trondheim, or Nidaros as it used to be called, was the first capital of Norway. The Sagas tell us how King Olav Tryggvason of Viking fame founded the city by the mouth of the River Nidelva in 997. Today Trondheim is a modern city, a center of knowledge with a highly respected university, many popular colleges, and a research community ranking among the best in Europe. You will find a wide variety of cultural and recreational activities in Trondheim. Here you can experience both the charm and intimacy of the small town and the plethora of choices of big-city life. While in Trondheim, you might want to visit Lerkendal, Trondheim’s football stadium, where many a mighty European football team has fallen to the powerful perennial contender in the Champions League - Rosenborg Ballklub. You will find the people of Trondheim friendly and sociable. Trondheim is a very hospitable city, with its doors open wide to the world.

Day 8 Cruising
Day 9 Port of Call Skjolden Arrival 8:00am Departure 7:00pm

Overview

Skjolden is a small regional center on the Lusterfjord, the innermost branch of Sognefjord.

Day 9 Port of Call Cruising Lustrafjord Arrival 7:30pm Departure 8:30pm

Overview

The innermost arm of the Sognefjord is called the Lustrafjord. At its end, there is the village of Skjolden, which has access to Jotunheimen National Park. In earlier times, transport from Bergen to the Scandinavian inland and vice versa was done by boat from Bergen to Skjolden and from there on a simple road over the highlands.

Day 9 Port of Call Sognefjord Arrival 9:00pm Departure 10:30pm

Overview

When you are travelling along the Sognefjord, and especially by boat, and feel you have had your fill of vertical mountainsides and cascading waterfalls for a day, you are advised to turn your attention to the small high farms clinging on for dear life. For many of these farms - and some are still inhabited - the fjord is in many cases the only way to travel. You may also observe on your way in or out of the Sognefjord that the weather may change quite dramatically. At the mouth of the fjord, the climate is maritime, whereas the innermost parts of the 200-km-long fjord have a much drier inland climate. It is a well-established fact that it is not easy to sail on the Sognefjord. The currents may be strong in some places, and they may quickly change directions. In some places, winds may blow hard whereas the very same wind direction may give calm waters around the next point of land. Some days you may see differently coloured current patterns on the fjord surface, and these are extensions of the river flows. These fluvial currents guide the wild salmon back to their river of birth to spawn. Occasionally you may still observe the wooden structures formerly used by local farmers as observation posts to catch the wild salmon in nets. This fishery used to be an important export industry, and in the winter ice was cut in the lakes and stored in special houses to be used in the summertime to keep the salmon as fresh as possible. Nowadays the wild salmon is an endangered species, but when you visit Laerdal and the Norwegian Wild Salmon Centre, you may learn more about the salmon and traditional fishing methods. If you are very lucky, you may even get a chance to see the "live" spawning rituals of the wild salmon. At the Sognefjord Aquarium in Balestr, you may experience the interesting diversity of marine life in the fjord.

Day 10 Port of Call Hardangerfjord Arrival 7:00am Departure 5:00pm

Overview

Hardanger is a name that Norwegians associate with blossom and fruit. In truth the orchard of Norway! Who would believe that you can grow apples, pears, plums, and even cherries at 60° north? A mild and pleasant climate and clear, light summer nights are ideal for our guests, as well as for fruit and berries. In the center of the district is the Hardangerfjord. High up you enter the Hardangervidda National Park and two of Norway’s largest glaciers, Folgefonna and Hardangerjokulen. From mountains and glaciers the majestic waterfalls foam down into the queen of fjords. This is Hardanger - a mixture of cold and warm, wilderness and quiet idylls, of old traditions and modern times!

Day 11 Cruising

You will also enjoy a wide variety of nightly selections such as filet mignon with black truffle sauce. With its elegant yet lively dining and renewed décor, it’s easy to see why this restaurant is the culinary heart of the ship. Reservations are not accepted. Choose being seated at a table for two or as part of a larger group of fellow guests.

Aqualina

Specialty Dining

Aqualina: At Aqualina, you’ll find some of Italy’s most celebrated dishes as well as contemporary inventive cuisine. Start with lobster ravioli, followed by arugula and radicchio with prosciutto chips, and a Venetian seafood platter. You won’t be able to say no to these famous desserts: marsala custard, lemon soufflé, or tiramisu. The chefs love to be inspired, so after an onshore visit to a local market, you can also expect a delectable dish so local, you’ll feel like you’re not onboard anymore.

Prime C: At Prime C, you’re in for more than an array of delectable dining such as steaks cooked to perfection, crab cakes with remoulade, lobster bisque, lamb, game hens and seafood. Last but certainly not least, try the mini cinnamon-sugar donuts with dipping sauces for dessert. Expect a marvelous evening in a warm wood-paneled ambiance with stunning views and lush décor. If the chef has made a visit to a local market while in port, you’ll also have an authentic local dish to look forward to.

Specialty Dining: Guests staying in a suite are welcome to dine any night of the voyage in Aqualina or Prime C at no charge. Guests who have booked a Club Veranda, Club Oceanview, or Club Interior stateroom are subject to a $30 (per person) cover charge in Aqualina or Prime C.

Mosaic Café

Casual Dining

Mosaic Café and Mosaic @Night: Comfortable and stylish, Mosaic is the place where you'll find your favorite coffee drinks, just the way you like (for an additional fee). Slip into a comfortable seat and sip for a while. The perfect place to start (or end) your day, no matter where you are in the world. This just might become your favorite area on the ship.

The Patio and Swirl & Top: The Patio and Swirl & Top: Casual "pool grill" by day, then fine tablecloths and flickering candles will set the mood for a sit-down al fresco dining experience by night. Taste your way around the world with exclusive personalized dishes using local flavors of the places visited on the Destination Immersion® cuisine dinner menu served by professional wait staff. And for a little touch of whimsy, a self-serve frozen yogurt station—Swirl & Top. With a variety of flavors and your choice of toppings, it's the perfect way to cool off during the day or end your evening meal.

Windows Café: The best way to see where you are in the world is not by looking at your itinerary, but by checking out the menu at Windows Café! The daily themed dinner often takes its inspiration from the region you are visiting. There’s even a live station made from local ingredients purchased in port: Greek salad made with local feta (Greece), pasta prepared with local mushrooms (Italy), fresh Mussels served with garlic bread (Netherlands). Take in the fresh breeze at an outdoor table and relax in the easy and casual atmosphere of the newly renovated Windows Café. Enjoy an intimate breakfast, lunch, or dinner for two or a lively meal for six with flexible seating options. And speaking of choices, selections change daily. Choose from fresh sushi, stir-fry and pasta, salads, smoked lox and other cold fish, a carving station and of course, desserts.

Room Service: Room service is available 24 hours a day. Order from the full breakfast menu from 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., and have it delivered at your appointed time. Lunch and dinner room service features a menu of hearty soups, fresh salads, gourmet sandwiches, pizzas and desserts.
