The Hotel Santo Mauro, originally a 19th-century noble family home, is a landmark for cosmopolitan explorers who value the distinctive personality of local architect - tour and appreciate the opportunity to truly inhabit and experience the history of the cities they visit. The hotel is located in the heart of Madrid, in the Chamberi neighborhood, near the design district (Malasaña), the golden mile (Salamanca neighborhood) and Paseo de La Castellana, where you can find some of the most important museums of the city and the “landscape of light”, recently declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Hotel Description
With its French-influenced design and architecture, the hotel consists of three buildings set in the most sophisticated private garden in Madrid, with fountains and terraces shaded by ancient chestnut trees. The guest rooms are full of special details and historical references that immerse you in the past.
The palace of the Duke of Santo Mauro was built by the architect Juan Bautista Lázaro de Diego between 1899 - 1902. It is a palace with a layout following the French taste. In 1890, Mariano Fernández de Henestrosa received the title of Duke of Santo Mauro as a reward for his services to the crown. He married Casilda Salabert y Arteaga, the First Duchess of Santo Mauro, and this is the beginning of his history and descendants. After the death of the Duke of Santo Mauro, the family continued to live in the Palace until it was confiscated during the Civil War, and a few years later they returned. It was the seat of successive embassies, from Romania, Canada and the Philippines and in 1989 it became a hotel.
