Itinerary Days 1 - 3

Day 1

  • Welcome to Venice. On arrival at Venice Marco Polo Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel by water taxi. Later, meet your Traveling Concierge and fellow travelers for a Welcome Dinner in the atmospheric 'Taverna la Fenice' part of the famous Opera house where 'La Traviata' was first performed.

Day 2

  • In the morning, cruise to the idyllic fisherman’s island of Burano. On return, stop to witness the age-old skill of glassblowing, admire St. Mark’s Basilica and see the Bridge of Sighs. Later, take your seat in a traditional gondola for a serenade through the romantic canals or learn to ‘punt’ for yourself with the help of an expert ‘Gondoliere’. Sip on a traditional Bellini cocktail while enjoying the music of the orchestra at Lord Byron’s favourite restaurant on St. Mark’s Square – the celebrated Caffe Florian founded in 1720. In the evening, you are invited to an after-hours private visit of the magnificent Doge’s Palace.

Day 3

  • Cross the fertile Po Valley to Verona, home of Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers. Stroll past the well-preserved Roman arena and through a maze of elegant squares to stand beneath the balcony said to have belonged to the Capulet family. Enjoy lunch at leisure, then journey to the resort town of Rapallo.

Itinerary Days 4 - 6

Day 4

  • Journey towards the Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Join your Local Expert in the picturesque fishing village of Manarola, then cruise along the rugged coast to explore Monterosso’s medieval quarter and popular sandy beach. Continue your journey south through glorious Tuscan landscapes to Florence to your luxury five-star hotel with its residence of charm.

Day 5

  • Explore Florence Your Way with a choice to join an art historian for an insider’s guide to this romantic city. Admire Michelangelo’s original statue of David in the Accademia Museum, before strolling to the cathedral, baptistery and open-air gallery of Piazza della Signoria. Alternatively, join a local foodie on a walking tour of the best gastronomic treats in this Tuscan town. Enjoy Florence in the afternoon at your own. In the evening, we head for the Corsini estate in the Chianti hills where in 1363 the Corsini family built their first home. Today – the current Prince meets us at his country house – Villa Le Corti – where he regales us with the history of his eminent family (Lorenzo Corsini was once Pope) and explains about the wine production on his estate. After a tour of the vineyards and wine cellars, we dine on Florentine specialities paired with the Estate wines in the company of the Prince and his wife.

Day 6

  • Head to Villa Dianella in Vinci – birthplace of Leonardo, where we visit the stunning Leonardo vineyard with the Villa’s owner, Countess Veronica Passerin d’Entreves, and learn more about this awe-inspiring Renaissance man. We have time to explore the grounds of this Medicean villa, including its vegetable and herb garden, where you will see the fresh ingredients you will use in the cookery lesson. Inside the historic villa, you will be given the utensils you need to create your organic dish and meet Alessio Bagnoli, our professional chef. Alessio will uncover the secrets of Tuscan cooking during an authentic culinary masterclass. In the first part of the lesson you’ll create a Tiramisu before making your pasta dish, served with fresh pesto sauce with basil and garlic from the garden and organic olive oil from the estate. Complete your cooking experience by savoring the fruits of your labor with a lovely lunch. In the afternoon, travel to Pisa and meet your Local Expert to view the splendid Duomo baptistery and the famous gravity-defying Leaning Tower of Pisa!

Itinerary Days 7 - 9

Day 7

  • Drive into the Tuscan Hills to a Truffle wood, where led by an expert Truffle-hunting dog – we search for those delicious funghi - the Tuber melanosporum. We stop a while to taste our truffles at the ancient House of Macchiavelli accompanied by a glass or two of Chianti. Then to the nearby medieval hilltop town of Montespertoli and Castello Sonnino, a preserved and historic wine estate. Since 1987 it has been the home of Baron and Baroness de Renzis Sonnino, but was once the mansion of the great statesman Sidney Sonnino. After a short visit of the castle, enjoy an ‘al fresco’ barbecue lunch, featuring the famous Florentine Beefsteak, on one of the terraces overlooking the estate vineyards and olive groves. Naturally, estate wines will be served with the lunch. Later in Perugia discover the preserved heritage of textile loom-weaving at the Laboratorio Giuditta Brozzetti, a weaver’s workshop situated inside a 13th century Franciscan church. Meet Marta, the workshop director and recipient of a TreadRight Foundation grant, and learn how this medieval craft has been kept alive over the generations. Arrive in to the mountain town of Assisi. Spend the evening at your leisure; perhaps soaking up the vibrancy of this historic town from a local cafe?

Day 8

  • Meet your Local Expert for a walk along the winding, cobbled streets of Assisi for a guided visit to the imposing Basilica of St. Francis. Journey on to the Bay of Naples where you’ll board your hydrofoil bound for the sun-drenched Isle of Capri. On arrival, enjoy an escorted ride in an open-top taxi to your exclusive hotel. Settle in and appreciate the splendors of Capri at your leisure, long after the day-trippers have returned to the mainland.

Day 9

  • Embark on a dazzling cruise to see the white grotto and spectacular cliffs of the island, before arriving in Capri town to cool off with a refreshing lemon granita. Walk with your Local Expert to the gardens of Caesar Augustus to view the legendary Faraglioni Rocks, jutting out of the water. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure. You may wish to indulge in a little bit of pampering at your hotel, the exquisite Capri Palace & Spa, an ancient Neapolitan palace that prides itself on its refined 1700s elegance. This evening indulge in a sumptuous dinner, prepared by the great chef Andrea Migliacco, at the only two Michelin star restaurant on the island - L’Olivo. Undoubtedly one of the best restaurants in the world, it is a true culinary destination.

Itinerary Days 10 - 12

Day 10

  • Return to the mainland and travel to the ill-fated town of Pompeii, frozen in time since A.D. 79 when it was violently engulfed by a volcanic eruption from Mount Vesuvius. Join your Local Expert to learn about the lifestyles of the people who once lived here and explore the remnants of ancient shops, baths and patrician villas. Journey along the valley of the River Tiber towards the Eternal City of Rome.

Day 11

  • Enjoy the best of the city’s highlights with a visit to St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican and some free time to explore on your own. In the afternoon, gain exclusive fast-tracked VIP entry into the Vatican Museum with a Local Expert. Admire the Papal art collection and observe the stunning Museo Gregoriano Profano which documents various moments and themes in classical art, from Ancient Greece through to the late Imperial Roman age. You’ll then enter the Sistine Chapel where you’ll marvel at Michelangelo’s masterpiece on its ceiling. After, dine in the Vatican’s elegant Cortile del Giardino Quadrato, should weather permit, where you will enjoy incredible views of the cupola of St. Peter’s during your private VIP Celebration Dinner.
