Let’s face it: Everyone needs to eat. However, most of us are particularly passionate foodies, and this is truly the case when it comes to travel.
Every region in the USA has its local dish. So please peruse the following list (which is an Amuse Bouche of sorts) to help you plan your upcoming vacation.
Savory in nature, Tex-Mex satisfies the palate. Everything from nachos, fajitas, tamale pie, Frito pie, and chile con carne will satiate any voracious appetite. Practically every restaurant and eatery in Houston which serves Tex-Mex has mastered the flavors and textures of this one-of-a-kind and harmonious fusion of Spanish, Mexican and Texan cuisines.
Once you have eaten Tex-Mex to your heart’s content in Houston , you may want to learn how to make Tex-Mex for yourself. Fortunately, Houston has cooking schools that focus on the preparation of Tex-Mex just for enthusiasts like you!
Houston’s neighbor to the north, Dallas, is a meat lover and comfort food paradise! Breakfasts are bountiful, and there are numerous all-day breakfast eateries that serve very creative dishes such as pancake pot pie, chicken fried benedict, pancake battered and deep-fried sausage links, and more. Of course, what’s Dallas without its famous steakhouses and rib joints? These places abound and portion sizes are quite generous. However, if you are someone who enjoys lighter fare, there are several vegan and fermented-focused restaurants which are sure to delight.
Louisiana Creole and Cajun cuisine reigns supreme in New Orleans. While these two different types of cuisine may appear to be the same, there’s one specific difference between them. Cajun cuisine is tomato-free, while Creole cuisine includes tomatoes (diced and/or sauced). Always extremely flavorful (and often very spicy), New Orleans restaurants specializing in Louisiana Creole and Cajun cuisines won’t disappoint. Whether you choose jambalaya, seafood gumbo, po'boy sandwiches, bread pudding, or beignets, you won’t depart disappointed. (Try them all!)
“City of Angels" and “Entertainment Capital of the World." These are names which are synonymous with California’s largest city, Los Angeles. However, one additional name needs to be added to that list: “Burger Town." From long-established local eateries with secret menus to restaurants serving up avant-garde offerings, L.A. is the go-to destination for an amazing hamburger. So much in fact that popular burger-specific restaurants based in other cities have established locations in L.A. to capture some of the attention (and financial rewards) of the city’s loyal burger fans.
If you enjoy deep-dish pizza, Chicago One thing which is distinctly Chicago is the Chicago Hot Dog. This hot dog is a veritable party-in-your-mouth with its poppy seed bun and all-beef wiener which is then topped with: Onions, yellow mustard, sweet pickle relish, tomatoes, celery salt, peppers and finished with a dill pickle spear!
Some of the best seafood in the U.S. come from the waters of New England, and Boston excels in the culinary arts in this regard. New England clam chowder, the lobster roll, and broiled oysters are some of the good eats which Boston is famous for. Throughout this city, you will find that seafood cuisine is something that Bostonians take very seriously, and this doesn’t mean that you need to break your savings account to have a great seafood meal here. There are many popular local restaurants that serve up fresh and delicious seafood at a very reasonable price
