Once upon a time Tetiaroa was treasured by Tahitian royalty as their secluded, serene escape. Today, the blissfully beautiful, private paradise is known for its owner, whom some consider Hollywood royalty, the late Marlon Brando.
Brando became captivated with Tetiaroa while filming “Mutiny on the Bounty,” and appealed to the president of France for permission to purchase the island. His intention was to protect and preserve Tetiaroa’s natural beauty, and to ensure an atmosphere that was environmentally and culturally sustainable.
Located 30 miles north of Tahiti, the atoll of Tetiaroa is made up of 12 small islands (motu) surrounding a crystal-blue lagoon. Upon arrival by private plane, guests are greeted by white sand, luxuriant vegetation, vivid flowers, intoxicating fragrances and ancient wonders.
Marlon Brando’s inspirational vision continues today. His unique resort welcomes guests with an ambiance of relaxed elegance, while maintaining an unwavering focus on harmony with the environment.
